We are grateful for the support behind our efforts to improve access to children and the most vulnerable Maryland medical cannabis patients!
4/29/19 MSDE letter from Theresa Dantzler to Aaron Shepherd "Dear Mr. Shepherd:
Thank you for writing to share your concerns. The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) currently follows guidance issued by the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission. Only designated caregivers may administer medication to registered minor patients. State law does not permit nurses or other staff to administer medical cannabis to minors (unless that person is the caregiver) and minors are not allowed to self-carry or self-administer medical cannabis. Smoking cannabis is currently prohibited in any public place, which includes school buildings and grounds. If this guidance changes or there are changes in State law, the MSDE will adjust its own guidance accordingly.
Sincerely,
Teresa Dantzler Ombudsman Maryland State Department of Education 200 West Baltimore Street Baltimore, Maryland 21201 410-767-0480 (office) [email protected]
